I picked up basic signing cards, expecting to use it to teach basic American Sign Language to my son.  However, it includes many signed English words, such as a, an, and, & the.  These are not used in ASL and I felt they were a waste of paper.  Rather than a set of 100 good words, I have about 90 usable ASL words.  Visual pictures are okay.  They are better to be used with older kids.  I think next time I'll just use an online video vocab cards rather than flashcards because they weren't so clear...
